I am ready to get a winch for my Grizzly and wondered a couple of things. 1) I am looking at the A2500 over the A2000 since it's not much more and comes with the roller fairlead (I think the A2000 doesn't). Doesn this sound ok with you? 2) Are the winches hard to install? I would think Warn has good directions, but I'dd appreciate any heads up before I start. Thanks very much in advance for any help you can lend.

I have not installed one on the Grizz, but did do one on a Haonda Rubicon, and it was not impossible, but difficult. Directions are good and it is pretty easy to follow. It is just a bulky winch and is tough to fit into tight areas. Good luck!!

Thanks B-Man. In other words, take my time and don't try to do it the night before we go riding, eh? Hamster

I had little trouble installing my 2000 Warn. I did not use the selinoid though. I used a circuit breaker instead. You have to use the selinoid with the 2500. It does not look hard to install either. Good luck there Hammer!!

Ok, so I went ahead and got the A2000, saved a little money. I'm still waiting on the winch mount to come in, should be here today. I'm still a little gun shy on the solenoid after hearing about EVERYONE has had problems with it. The A2500 comes with the nicer setup, I can't figure out why Warn wouldn't go ahead and include it with the A2000 (they probably have about a million in stock and need to use them up!)
Anyways, I ordered my stuff directly from Parts Unlimited since I'm setup as a dealer with my brother-in-law and father-in-law motorcycle shops. It's simply amazing what the markup is on this stuff! Since I don't really work at the dealership (except for doing his network and computer stuff) he allows me to order some stuff every now and then. I get it at dealer cost which is cool.
So, time to start getting the winch installed and making my plans for me and the lil hammer to do our first ride at Brown Mtn. I can't wait. Kinda like a kid before his first trip to the amusement park! ;D

Hammer, Let me know if you have a problem getting that mount. I have a extra Yamaha brand mount. $25 will get it. Good luck.

Thanks for the offer C-Mount. It's supposed to be here today. My dad-in-law is supposed to pick it up for me at the Greensboro shop today and drop it by the house.
Hey Bill. Not sure yet. I want to get the winch on before we go just in case I do something stupid. I was thinking about going maybe one day next week during the week just to get aquainted with the area. Since my oldest is out of school and this week he is in bible school next week may be good.
I think once we get familiar with what to do, we want to go up one weekend and ride and camp out. Do the good father/son bonding stuff that's important. Plus, I want to make sure his little Polaris 90 is gonna be ok on the trails up there.
I'm gonna post a question over in Where to Ride about what trail numbers to take....
Thanks guys. ;D
